At Christ Church School we are committed to safeguarding and looking after the welfare of all children.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined in Keeping Children Safe in Education 2019 as:
• protecting children from maltreatment;
• preventing impairment of children’s health or development;
• ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision
of safe and effective care; and
• taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
We recognise that looking after the safety and welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility, and this means that all staff, governors and volunteers have a role to play. In order to fulfil our responsibility effectively, we make sure that all our staff have regular child protection training and are kept up to date with our child protection and other safeguarding policies. Our approach is child-centred which means that we consider, at all times, the best interests of the child. Our school ethos and church school values, along with our PSHE curriculum, supports children to understand what it means to be safe and to know who they can talk to if they feel at risk or have any concerns.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Diane Cooper (Headteacher).
The Deputy Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Karen Baines
