Welcome to Byland!
The class teacher is Miss Newman and the teaching assistants are Mrs Curry, Mr Smith, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Brown. In the mornings we are also joined by Mrs Crowe.
We are the first class in Christ Church School, a mix of Reception and Year 1 children working together making learning fun!
Every day we start the morning with ‘Activate’ to make sure we are awake and ready to learn. All children have phonics sessions in groups based on their abilities, followed by structured learning for the Year One children and free flow learning for the Reception children. Byland class is a busy place to be.
The reception children are able to choose if they would like to lead their own learning inside or outside, there are lots opportunities to be experienced with the wide range of resources available.
The Year One children are being introduced to a more structured way of learning, working in small groups in the year one hub but still with access to the various areas in the classroom. In the mornings we concentrate on Maths and English followed by Topic lessons including History, ICT, Art, Science, PE and Music in the afternoons. Byland children join the whole school for collective worhsip every day, including good news assembly each Friday.
In the classroom we have 5 computers for use all the time and are able to use the school netbooks and iPads when we need to. We learn how to access DB Primary our online learning platform as well as Purple Mash. Remember you can log into these from home and look at them with your child.
This is an exciting time with lots of news faces, not only for children but for staff. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to appraoch a member of staff. We hope Byland class will be a happy place to learn.
Please come back soon to see what we have been doing in Byland.
In addition to everything happening in the classroom, there is a whole selection of clubs for Byland children to take part in, some during lunchtime and others after school.
